ABOUT CASA DE LA LUNA

NOTE: The homeowner managers her own rates, and the rates posted here may not be the most current information. We will introduce you to the homeowner so that she can confirm rates and availability.

3 bedrooms (sleeps 10-11 adults)

4 BRs (sleeps 14-15) or 4BRs + 1BR apartment (sleeps 16-17). Homeowner does live on the property in a separate lockoff space. The homeowner may be present during your stay and will be your point of contact for checkin details, pre arrival information and any additional needs during your stay. We do not manage the home but market it for rental on behalf of the homeowner. All rental agreements and payments will be made directly to the homeowner.

Expect spacious, tasteful, high-end accommodation with all mod cons & flexibility. Book the house and add extra space if your plans change. Additional accommodation is available only as part of the main house rental and not separately.

The house was built & is equipped & maintained to be lived in comfortably NOT to maximise rental income. Not only does it sleep up to 18 people but it is fully equipped to do so with ease.

It’s quiet, secluded & restful in K-secton but still enough in the middle of everything. It’s a very short walk to the surf at the Bakers Beach entrance to Playa Guiones & The Bodhi Tree (sub 5 minutes) & main local amenities (15-20 minutes). Right around the corner is Agua Tibia surf school & also Olas Verdes' surf school and restaurant.

You wake to the sounds of the surrounding jungle, happily far away from the noise & main thrust of construction in G-section. Enjoy your breakfast on the terrace, & watch the howler monkeys in the treetops.

This is now the third season of ownership and we continue to maintain Casa De La Luna to a high standard through a rigorous maintenance program that keeps the jungle, insects and the elements at bay. No small task. And you'll find quality furnishing, equipment & fittings plus a decent stock of basic self-catering items & toiletries so Luna feels like a home-from-home. And a good stock of toys and gear for babies.

LOCATION IS EVERYTHING

For those who are new to the area, Playa Guiones offers an unrivalled blend of Costa Rican authenticity, modern convenience & natural beauty. A 200m nature corridor runs the entire length of the beach keeping bars, condos & general construction at bay. You can sit on your board watching the sun set over the pacific or rise over the jungle. It’s stunning. The flora & fauna are nothing short of astonishing – whales, dolphins, turtles nesting, birds galore & teaming jungle.

The area has been sympathetically settled for decades, largely by US citizens so the working language is English & standards are high. Don’t expect a boisterous night-life or lots of tourist shops though. Nosara is quiet, laid back, rustic but civilised with amazing restaurants, great facilities & friendly Tico service.

The surf is world class; not tide dependent, consistent, catering for all ability levels plus tuition standards are high. There are other breaks nearby & Playa Pelada is a walk round the headland path.

It isn’t just a place for the surfing fraternity by any means. There’s world-renowned yoga, great spa & massage facilities. There are outdoor adventure activities in abundance. You can snorkel, horseback ride, rent quads and mountain bikes, zip-line, paddle board, fish the blue or fresh water, cruise to spot dolphins, cave dive, visit the animal sanctuary and, in season, watch whales or turtles nesting. Specifically for kids you have the skate park, The Frogpad, a tennis club & mini-golf. There's just so much within in a five mile radius or so.

For those who do know the area, Casa De La Luna is located in the K Section, on the main road just past the Harbor Reef & the Guiones Beach Club, less than a 5 minute walk to the K-section beach entrance - 10 if you amble & haul lots of gear or have small children.

Just around the corner is the main hub of the tiny town of Guiones, 15-20 minutes at a leisurely pace. It has everything you might need: a wide variety of restaurants & bars, surf schools, drugstore, medical clinic, bank, car, quad & bicycle rental, souvenirs, bakery, organic foods, massage services even a tattoo studio & tennis courts. Heading the other way for a few minutes you have the Nosara Yoga Institute for classes & instructor tuition.

ON THE INSIDE

The house sits over three storeys connected by a spiral staircase so working from the top down:

The third floor is BR1; there’s a vast & extremely comfortable master suite designed for honeymooners that takes up the entire top floor. You can truly get away from it all even with a houseful of company. It has a custom, Balinese inspired king bed, queen bed, furniture, & matching decor. The en-suite comprises his & hers sinks, shower & tub plus a generous walk-in closet. There’s AC, ceiling fans, high timber ceilings, a large balcony overlooking the pool, & a second dual aspect balcony.

The 2nd floor is the hub of the house, the Balinese twist flows throughout. The bedrooms on this floor are to the rear of the property. In BR2 there's a hand made ‘English king’ bed (US queen) & furniture, hand-carved art, good storage, AC, ceiling fan plus a large terrace overlooking garden. BR3 is for sharing & for kids. The room is generously proportioned with a bunk over full & a straight bunk & again, good storage plus a desk. There's a TV & DVD player & a small selection of CGI kids movies to entertain the little ones. BR3 also has its own separate terrace but small children should be supervised as there’s a drop beyond railings to the ground floor garden. These two bedrooms share a bathroom & open onto a small vestibule off the main living area.

The open living / kitchen space establishes Casa De La Luna’s tasteful, exotic feel from the minute you arrive. There’s ample sofa seating, a Beats music system, TV/DVD/Sky plus games & books . Two huge patio doors open out to the covered terrace & then the pool so you feel like you have indoor/outdoor living all in one. There's a third large patio door facing west to catch the night breeze. There's AC & three ceiling fans inside, two on the terrace & it’s actually great to sit in the evening with just the fans going, drawing in the cooler evening breeze & listening to the jungle at night.

The kitchen won't disappoint if you want to self-cater or love to cook. It’s modern, & spacious. It has all the amenities, including quality appliances; built-in stove/oven, fridge/freezer w/ice maker, dishwasher, blender & kitchenware. There’ll be a small stock of essential pantry items & water to get you off the ground. You'll find decent basic toiletries, a hairdryer, fire extinguisher, 1st aid kit, sewing kit, torches. Catch your breath on arrival, don’t race to the store.

On the 1st floor at the bottom of the spiral staircase you'll find the laundry - a full sized washer & a dryer, a cooler & 4 large folding chairs.

Besides the listed 3BR/2BA house but still an integral, flowing part of it, Casa De La Luna can cater for varying budgets & group sizes at additional costs. You can add either a fourth bedroom/ en suite with terrace or the fourth plus kitchen/living with sofa bed + bathroom. The first floor or just the studio can be self-contained if this suits separate families

BR4 - Off the staircase there's a door though to BR4. It’s spacious, has an en suite, AC & ceiling fan. There are two queen beds & a sofa bed. It’s a child-friendy area. Outside is a walled secure terrace where they can play safely. It has it's own separate external access and can be rented as part of an apartment (below).

The 1st floor studio - through Bed 4 is a generous kitchen/living space with sofa bed (only) and a fourth bathroom. There’s AC & garden terrace. This apartment is never rented separately so you won't find yourself sharing the pool with a stranger.

If you are unsure of your final requirements, book the main house (minimum stay terms apply) & then add the extra room(s) for some or all of (but not longer than) your stay at a later date. Please enquire for additional rates.

ON THE OUTSIDE

The grounds are professionally landscaped. You pull up through a secure gated to a parking area & enter the house up a flight of steps to the walled pool & patio on the 2nd floor. You’ll find bespoke, secure racks for surfboards & beach gear, a hose & outdoor shower around the parking area to wash down & keep the sand at bay.

The terrace patio includes a covered, shaded grill area & plenty of outdoor seating & dining space for 14! The beautiful pool has loungers & sunbathing area. It’s mostly walled & has a locking arch gate giving privacy from the parking area. The patio connects to the open concept kitchen & living area through twin sets of French doors. Opened up it’s so lovely to sit out at night. In the morning watch the hummingbirds on the ginger (in season).

GENERAL AMENITIES

AC & ceiling fans in all bedrooms, & communal rooms. High speed wireless internet & landline with free calls to the US, security lighting, cctv, secure parking, safes, laundry, external shower, 2 beach bikes, beach gear, TV/DVDs, music system, books, digital music & video library (MAC/PC), games & toys, baby gear & toys.

EXTRAS

Cleaning, cooking, shopping can be arranged. I recommend a local Tica lady for this. She really can cook, pre-shop & is very reliable & honest; a cost-effective alternative to the restaurants. This is a real bonus travelling with kids and is a great way to take the pain out of your arrival day.

It has everything from the obvious world class surfing, yoga and massage to one of the largest turtle nesting colonies, fresh and blue water fishing, a monkey sanctuary, rock pooling, horse-back riding, zip-lining, longer day trips inland, excellent snorkelling, hiking, paddle-boarding and there's even a crocodile or two in the local river. All within a very short distance. Car strongly recommended. Perfect for the surfer, and the surfing widow, the kids and those of us who enjoy being off the beaten track but still have ready access to life's luxuries and mod cons. 

Separately a fourth bedroom / bathroom can be added to the rental on enquiry: 3 bed/ 2 bath sleeps 9 (advertised rates) or 4 bed/ 3 bath sleeps 13-14 (additional cost to rates shown) A 1 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment with kitchen /living & garden terrace cab be added to main rental (not let separately, however owner may be present)

RENTAL RULES AND CONDITIONS

IMPORTANT: WE DO NOT GUARANTEE AVAILABILITY FOR ARRIVAL LESS THAN 48 HOURS (2 DAYS) FROM BOOKING. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A RESERVATION FOR ARRIVAL WITHIN 48 HOURS, PLEASE CONTACT MITZI@RENTNOSARA.COM PRIOR TO BOOKING TO CONFIRM AVAILABILITY.

50% of the rental deposit is NON REFUNDABLE. In the event that the Rental Party cancels, 50% of the rental deposit will be returned if the cancellation takes place 60 days or more prior to the arrival date. Any cancellation within 60 days will result in the loss of the payment, unless Manager can find a replacement rental guest at a rate equal or greater to this booking. If this occurs, there will be a 10% cancellation fee charged to Rental Guest.

A refundable damage deposit will be placed on Rental Party's credit card used for payment. Following the check out, assuming the home has been left in the proper condition, the damage deposit will be refunded in full.

The Rental Party is responsible for any transaction fees that might take place during a wire transfer.

Keep the property and all furnishings in good order. Any and all damage caused by Rental Party or excessive cleaning required is to be taken from the damage deposit. If the damage deposit does not cover total cost of damages, Rental Party is responsible for making payment for the difference.

Home and property are privately owned; the Owner(s) and Manager(s) are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Owner(s) are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise.

Rental Party understands that they may experience power outages, water outages, internet failures and dust during their stay. Additionally, the Nosara region is undergoing a growth phase resulting in an increase in construction. It is likely you will experience construction noise during your stay. The presence of insects in a home is not uncommon with the environment in Costa Rica. Owner and Manager(s) are not responsible beyond what they cannot control. If you have any concerns, contact Manager prior to booking.

Check in time is between the hours of 4PM and 9PM. Any arrival after 9PM will result in a $100 late check in fee. Late checkout may be available by request. Requests must be received by the Rent Nosara group chat 24 hours in advance of your designated checkout day and time. Any guest who stays beyond the designated departure time without prior approval will forfeit their deposit. No exceptions. Thank you for helping us timely prepare the home for the next arrival.

Smoking is NOT allowed inside any unit. Smoking is allowed outside only.

People other than those in the guest party set forth above may not stay overnight in the property. Any other person in the property is the sole responsibility of Guest.

Only use appliances for their intended uses.

Vehicles are to be parked in designated parking areas only.

Bathroom towels from the home are not to be taken to the beach.

Keys: Rental Party agrees to return all keys immediately upon checkout. Failure to do so will result in a $150 charge.

Rental Party agrees not to use the premises for any and all improper purposes nor permit any disturbances to the surrounding inhabitants, neighbors, or nature areas.
